Writing Guide

Jews of Colour Canada

Jews of Colour – we define as anyone who is or identifies as: black, Asian, mixed racial heritage, southeast Asian, Sephardic, Mizrahi, Yemenite and other combinations.

Our focus is to publish work from Canadian Jews of Colour and other Canadian Jewish writers, or pieces that have a distinct connection to Canada, Jewish Canadian culture, and Jews of Colour in Canada.

We will publish pieces that are from non-JOCs provided that the pieces are about Jews of Colour in Canada or related to Global Jewish Communities.

We publish short non-fiction, usually personal narrative, poetry, reviews, and opinions on specific issues.

A current photograph of the writer and details about the writer’s location (City, Country) must be included with the submitted piece and will be published with the article.

We will not post or disseminate any submission that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, obscene, harmful, tortious, libelous, or invasive of another’s privacy

**NOTE**

We acknowledge that the issues affecting Jews of Colour, and people of colour can inspire passionate expressions.

While personal experiences can elicit strong emotions, it is important to remember that it is not the “intent” of the message but the “impact” that needs to be considered when submitting a piece.
